Our Work: Issues

 Conservation
  • Climate Change
Rural African villagers are on the front lines to conserve the the world's second largest rainforest.  INCEF is working with filmmakers and educators to create and disseminate films in the Congo Basin that will motivate discussions seeking local solutions to the consequences of shifting climates.  Just as important are INCEF's projects concerning using these forests to best advantage through micro and macro zoning, rights of usage and management of community forests.
  • Forest Elephants
Since its beginning, INCEF teams have gone from village to village in northern Republic of Congo to educate villagers on both the importance of saving Forest Elephants, preventing elephants from raiding crops, and most importantly with anti-poaching campaigns.
  • Managing The Congo Basin Forests
INCEF teamed up with the US Forest Service and AWF to create films to specifically educate populations (90% illiteracy) about the laws and codes regulating their dwindling forest resources.
  • Great Apes
INCEF films facilitate discussions in northern regions of Republic of Congo and in Great Ape habitat in the Democratic Republic of Congo in its efforts to save Great Apes.
  • Hunting
Hunting for commercial trade in bushmeat is, if not the biggest threat, one of the priorities to saving wildlife and forests universally and certainly on the African Continent.  INCEF's methodology using video centered outreach has proven effective in decreasing this threat to the future of many species endangered or not.
  • Governing Protected Areas
INCEF partnered with IUCN and CARPE to create and disseminate films that clearly explains laws governing protected areas of the Republic of Congo to audiences who are unable to read.

Health
  • Zoonotic Diseases (Ebola and Monkeypox)

The CDC enlisted INCEF to create videos and an outreach campaign in the DRC and ROC to decrease incidence of zoonotic diseases such as Ebola and Monkeypox.
  • HIV/AIDS
In collaboration with UNICEF, INCEF outreach campaigns are educating rural areas on prevention of HIV/AIDS and how to live with HIV/AIDS.
  • Maternal Infant Survival
Working with UNICEF and local health and social welfare experts INCEF created a series of films focused on Mother/Infant Survival reaching more than half a million people.  INCEF is also working to educate populations on family planning, clean potable water and nutrition.
  • Sexual Violence
A collaboration between INCEF and UNICEF resulted in outreach campaigns to help rural villagers and refugees from war-torn Central African Republic fight against physical, emotional, sexual and economic violence.
