Our Work: Locations
The Central African rainforest is second in size only to the Amazonian rainforest of South America but it is the most intact - and the whole world needs for it to remain that way as much as possible.
It is also among the most mineral, water, and other resources-rich regions of the world. It can provide for the sustainable use of the human populations that live in forest communities but it continues to suffer from illegal (and legal) commercial exploitation that is not sustainable, and is beneficial only to the almost invariably foreign interests that take what they can without respect for the indigenous human and wild species that have always lived there nor for the future of the planet that increasingly depends on the rainforest's health.
INCEF has worked to turn this destructive trend around through projects in numerous settings:
Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)
Republic of Congo (ROC)
Central African Republic (CAR)

Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)
- MLW: Maringa-Lopori-Wamba Landscape
In partnership with the US Forest Service and African Wildlife Foundation, INCEF's films are being taken village-to-village to educate the communities about protecting their rights of forest usage and land tenure, while also preserving the forests to prevent climate change and save habitat for Bonobos and other wildlife. - Salonga-Lukenie-Sankuru Landscape Project
INCEF has partnered with WWF to create and disseminate films focused on solid management and conservation of these forests, as well as the health and welfare of people living within and around this precious resource. The films also provided information on family planning practices. - TL2: Tshuapa-Lomami-Lualuba Landscape
Efforts to create and manage Democratic Republic of Congo's newest National Park, Lomami, are being led by John and Terese Hart. INCEF is working with them to create and disseminate appropriate films to help in this effort. - Tayna Center for Conservation Biology
INCEF has also worked with emerging conservation leaders on the effectiveness of video-centered outreach campaigns.
Republic of Congo (ROC)
- Odzala Kokoua National Park
In 2011 INCEF teamed up with ECOFAC (a conservation arm of the European Union working in the Congo Basin). Together we created and disseminated six films on endangered species and alternatives to hunting for the commercial bushmeat trade. INCEF continues to work with partners to find and inform the public about sound economic alternatives to hunting commercial bushmeat.
Central African Republic (CAR)
- BaAka villages in Bayanga
There are nine BaAka villages near Bayanga in the Central African Republic. INCEF has worked with this indigineous semi-nomadic population to create and disseminate videos. Once instability in the region is resolved, INCEF will return.
