Forest Elephants

Summary

This seven minute film allows local viewers to observe the natural behavior of forest elephants as they gather by the dozens at Dzanga Bai (a bai is a natural clearing) in the Central African Republic and Mbeli Bai in the Republic of Congo.  It was produced with the intent of providing an introduction of these amazing animals to villagers -- a great number of whom live among the elephants without ever having seen them in the wild.

Footage was contributed by Andrea Turkalo, an elephant researcher who has studied and monitored the elephants of Dzanga for more than fifteen years; the Elephant Listening Project based at the Cornell University Lab of Ornithology, Emma Stokes and Thomas Breuer who have documented the elephants at Mbeli Bai, and INCEF cameraman Anatole Mafoula. The film runs without narration and with music composed by INCEF editor Jéhu Olivier Bikoumou.
