Summary
This thirteen minute film tracks how this devastating virus was finally identified after it first appeared – among children chiefly - in the Likouala region in the northern Republic of Congo, confounding the healthcare community with the similarity of its disfiguring symptoms to chickenpox or smallpox. The film features the stories of the medical professionals and victims’ families as they struggled to determine what they were dealing with and how to contain it.
