In both Republic of Congo and in neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo INCEF is teaming up with the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta and Congolese Public Health to prevent a disease called Monkeypox. Saving Forest Elephants

To raise awareness among remote populations sharing their habitat with Forest Elephants on issues and solutions that would decrease the hunting of Forest Elephants. Objective: Decrease hunting of forest elephants in Republic of Congo Production: By 2006 we completed we completed 5 films: Forest Elephants, Price of Ivory, Human Elephant Conflict, Hunting, and Alternatives to Hunting . In 2007 we added another film profiling the arrest and incarceration of an elephant poacher Justice and Conservation. Dissemination: From 2006 to 2011 we reached 174 villages in Likouala, Sangha and Cuvette Ouest in Republic of Congo – and a total of 103,591 individuals. Learn more |

Teaching Hunters the Law

Increase knowledge of hunting laws on the periphery of protected areas. Dissemination: INCEF education teams reached 50 villages and 101,685 people or 70% of the population in those villages. As a result of learning that the population had little awareness of laws governing hunting in protected areas, a second project with IUCN was launched. Learn more |
